I was born here as were previous generations of my family. On my mothers side of the family, my great grandfather lived in the small fishing town of Lymington where he carried out the trade of Whitesmith, making tin and copper kettles. His terraced thatched cottage situated in Belmore lane, was destroyed by fire after a neighbour set their chimney alight, around the turn of the last century, Incidentaly, one of my elderly Lymington customers who died just before his 100th birthday remembered the fire, and recalled the incident to me.
